About John Bragstad – Lake Superior Nature Writer

I live near the wild shores of Lake Superior. My literary influences include Sigurd Olson, Robert Service, George McDonald, and Don Ian Smith.
I am drawn to nature writing that goes beyond the usual travelogue of moving from place to place. Canoeing has given me many carefree moments. I have lived in both the United States and Canada.
"A former canoe guide in the BWCAW and Saskatchewan (Canada), John knows the outdoors intimately. In addition, he spent 25 years as a marriage counselor, and he offers sage, safe, common-sense advice on how to maneuver through troubled waters." – Brian Larsen, Cook County News-Herald
Meditations for the Untethered grew out of a love of poetry and quiet reflection–short pieces meant to be read slowly rather than cover-to-cover.
I have also writen for boreal.org., a publication devoted to northern nature and culture.
