I've been fortunate to have had some unique experiences. I've canoed one of the greatest wilderness landscapes in North America: the Boundary Waters Canoe Area of Minnesota. I've lived in Canada and have spent time on the Churchill River and beyond.
I've been to Newfoundland and watched puffins playing in the bay. I've observed in the moonlight a polar bear peering through our window from a cabin in Churchill, Manitoba.
One of the great experiences? Hiking the Trail of '98 up the Chilkoot Pass from Skagway, Alaska. Others have done more but these I celebrate as high moments in my life
As a therapist and counselor, I have had decades of working with people, Together we would greet life's challenges. It is a rare privilege. My training is in systems theory, cognitive-behavioral psychology, Adlerian psychology and Family Systems Therapy. As a Marriage and Family therapist, I worked with both couples and individuals.
"Aldo Leopold (Sand County Almanac) may be the master of
nature writing, and Gary Chapman (The 5 Love Languages)
may be the master of 'relationship writing,' but no one
weaves the two realms together as neatly and poignantly
as John Bragstad in Compass Season.
Combining his lifelong love affair with nature and his
decades of experience as a family and marriage
counselor, Bragstad presents the readers with 40
vignettes that teach, inform, inspire and entertain."
